Hopang is the capital of Hopang Township, Shan State, Myanmar (Burma). It is also the government designated capital of the Wa Self-Administered Division. Geography Hopang is located in the valley of the Nam Ting River, a tributary of the Salween. In the city of Hopan, which is not far from the Chinese border, there have been battles with the Burmese army since the era of the Communist Party of Burma, and the battle of Chu Shwe Pang Kok is famous. In 1989, after the rebellion against the Communist Party of Burma, the Kokant Army emerged. General Khin Nyunt made peace with the "Wa" army and designated the Kokang region as a special region (1) and the "Wa" region as a special region (2).
