Thapyay Tan Fortress

Thapyay Tan Fort,Shwe Kyat Yat fort, known by various names as the great fortress, was built during the reign of Min Tong. It is estimated that it was built around 1868. The fort was originally named after the royal family, but it was not named after the hill of Shwe Kyat Yat. It seems that the small village of Thaye Than was called Thaye Than Fort. Thapyay Tan Fort is located in Mandalay Region, Amarapura Township, It is located at the eastern tip of Inwa Bridge next to Mandalay Sagaing Road. Thapyay Tan Fort was built in 1236 during the reign of King Min Tong. It was built under the leadership of the King Kathe and the Italian Commoto. It took about four (4) years to build the fort.
